How To Change Facebook Primary Email
According to Facebook: "Your Facebook email is based upon your public username. Email sent to this address goes to Facebook Messages.".
It's clear that Facebook wants users to spend more time on their site. More time on Facebook indicates more details they can collect. Emailing through the Facebook platform is one method to do so. Facebook assumes that given that we're on the platform, we may too email there also. Ahhh, not so much. Slipping this new e-mail into our settings without prior consent isn't really the finest way to win users over.
We do have the option about whether or not to use Facebook. But leaving Facebook is the modern-day equivalent of running away from house. We all understand you'll come back. Mwahahaha.
If you do not desire to run away but don't wish to use Facebook email, how do you eliminate it?
As far as I know, you can not totally get rid of the Facebook email. Facebook makes us believe that we can. However when we actually enter into the settings, it's not possible.
You can either:.
1). Hide the Facebook email from your timeline.
2). Make the Facebook email readily available to be seen just by you.
Keep in mind: You can Remove other of your e-mails listed, but you can not eliminate your Facebook email. Pretty practical for Facebook, eh?
In any of the above two cases, you'll need to get to the Settings initially.
- Click Update Details from your Profile.
- Scroll Down to Contact Info (under Basic Details) then hit Edit.
1. To Hide the Facebook e-mail from your Timeline:.
On the far right, you'll see a circle with an arrow pointing down.
Click the down arrow and select "Concealed from Timeline.".
Scroll down to the bottom and strike "Save.".
2. To make the Facebook email just viewable by you:.
The default is set to be viewed by Friends. To alter this setting:.
Select the people icon on the left.
Scroll down to the Lock that says "Just Me." Select.
Scroll down to the bottom and hit "Conserve.".
And there you have it.
Now would be an excellent time to review and upgrade any of your other personal privacy settings.
